Anjali gets featured on FNR's Spotlight on Young Researchers!
28/06/19 17:47
Our Ph.D student Anjali Sharma was featured on FNR's Spotlight on Young Researchers blog!
Anjali works on forming liquid crystal shells and she works on trying to stabilize them using different surfactants and polymers.
Anjali and the team (Jampani, Nikolay and Jan from our group) + others from Prof. Ralf Stannarius's group in Magdeburg, Germany, observed LC shell behavior in a micro gravity environment made possible through several parabolic flights initiated in a plane provided by the German Aerospace Center (DLR)
Read about & see her experience here on the FNR's site: Spotlight on Young Researchers: Anjali Sharma

Awesome email to get:
Our review on LCs in Droplets, Shells & Fibers got selected for the 2017 highlights list by IOP Publishing!! Yes mega Congrats to our team!!
Thanks to everyone who also read &/or downloaded our article.
We put a lot of effort into trying to make a review as comprehensive, and as accurate, for those outside and in our fields as possible.
If you want to check the highlights click here (Category is: Soft matter, biophysics and liquids) - http://iopscience.iop.org/journal/0953-8984/page/Highlights-2017

Jan is awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant
13/03/15 20:21
On the 12th of March 2015 the European Research Council (ERC) publicized the list of this year's Consolidator Grant winners, making it official that Jan's proposal INTERACT was selected for support. The support means that for the next five years the Experimental Soft Matter Physics group will be working very actively on wearable technology, soft robotics and innovative techniques for secure authentication. As the project gets going (current projected starting date is 1st of April 2015) there will be many updates.
JungHyun awarded for her presentation at KLCC

JungHyun Noh received a best presentation award for her talk at the Korean Liquid Crystal Conference in Jeonju, 23rd-24th of January 2014, on the microfluidic preparation of cholesteric liquid crystal droplets and the analysis of their photonic behaviour. Congratulations! This work was also recently published in Journal of Materials Chemistry C, which chose to feature her work on the cover page.
